ABOUT

I first became a river guide in summer 2018. This position and mindset evolved into a broad set of skills that allowed me to guide people in multiple outdoor settings. Since then, I have worked on the river, on the rocks, and deep in the backcountry.

During adventures I often carried a camera. I documented my time in the outdoors. It became my goal to capture the soul of the adventures.

Among the most elusive subject, was the night sky and the Milky Way. I learned early on how to capture the Milky Way and have honed that skill up until today. The desire to chase the stars brought me to some of the most beautiful areas of backcountry in the west. It also created a desire to capture the most elusive scenes possible.

Today I climb and ski hard in the mountains. Whenever I am not climbing or skiing, I focus on chasing the elusive moments. I capture them with a camera, or render them by hand. I produce black and white clayboard artwork, the occasional ink or pencil illustration, and plenty of photography. Whether its a cityscape or the mountains, I want to capture it for others to view and enjoy.

Photo Locations

Colorado - Much of my photography and artwork is inspired by home. A majority of my early shots are from the Arkansas River Valley with the rest from the surrounding areas of Denver.

Florida - Just a couple of photographs were captured on the coast of Florida

Idaho - The Sawtooth Mountains are a sight to see. I was able to spend a short time there on my way west in summer 2022.

California - Early summer 2022; I spent time as an instructor trekking in the mountains in northern California. I was able to explore the Trinity Alps wilderness, and spend a couple nights high on Mt. Shasta.

Alaska - Summer 2022 brought me to Alaska for a short time. I helped lead trips in the Chugach Mountains and Kesugi Ridge in Denali State Park.

Pacific Northwest - A number of images are from the Northwest including The North Cascades National Park and Olympic National Park. These locations were incredibly beautiful and difficult to reach. Much of the Olympic Coast is only accessible at low tide, and the Cascades are rugged and expansive.

The Carolinas - During the fall of 2022, I was able to explore The Great Smoky Mountains, Pisgah National Forest, and The Foothills Trail. It is difficult to capture the fall foliage in its true glory.

Costa Rica - 2022 ended with a trip to the more remote locations in Central America with some students. Some shots are from high in the Talamanca mountains with the Indigenous Cabécar people. Others capture the biodiversity of the Caribé Coast

Montana - Winter in up north offers some of the best skiing both in-bounds and out. A few shots capture skiing the big lines in and around Big Sky.
